Langtons House Summer Wedding, Essex.

Kerry & Jamie’s wedding at Langtons House in Hornchurch was simple, relaxed, and full of the kind of natural moments I love to photograph. They kept the day focused on what mattered—being with their closest people and enjoying every bit of it. From their ceremony in the Blue Room through to the dancefloor at Upminster Golf Club, it was a great day with a brilliant atmosphere.

The day kicked off at Langtons House, one of my favourite registry venues in Essex. Jamie arrived first and welcomed guests as they filtered in through the gardens. Kerry arrived a little later in a lovely old school car with a few nerves, but mostly just excitement. I stayed quiet in the background during this time, capturing those little moments that often go unnoticed—reactions, hugs, and a few deep breaths before heading in.

The ceremony took place in the Blue Room at Langtons—a lovely, light-filled space that always photographs really well. Kerry & Jamie were both a bit emotional (in the best way), and the room had a warm, calm energy.

I captured the ceremony in a purely documentary way, focusing on expressions, eye contact, and all those subtle interactions between them and their guests. There’s a real honesty to registry weddings like this—no over-the-top moments, just two people making a really important promise in front of the people who matter most.

We followed the ceremony with a few relaxed group shots with family and the bridal party. I always aim to keep these quick and painless—just enough to get the important combinations without taking over the afternoon. While we were doing that, I was also grabbing candid moments of guests catching up, kids running around, and all the little interactions that happen around the edges.

Langtons House in Hornchurch Essex is such a lovely venue, there are so many wonderful places for group shots. I chose this beautiful doorway for our backdrop which worked wonderfully!

After the ceremony and group shots, I spent some time with Kerry & Jamie for their couple portraits. We had around half an hour to explore the gardens at Langtons House, which are easily one of the best features of this Hornchurch wedding venue.

If you’re getting married at Langtons House, the gardens really are a dream to photograph in—beautifully kept all year round with a mix of manicured hedges, mature trees, floral borders, and that iconic pond. There’s so much variety in a small space, which means we can create a wide range of natural portraits without needing to go far. It’s ideal for couples who want great photos but don’t want to be away from their guests for too long.

We started by walking through the main lawn area, using the soft summer light filtering through the trees. I kept the direction really relaxed—just enough to help them feel at ease—and focused on capturing them being themselves. From there, we moved closer to the water for a few shots by the pond and on the bridge, which always makes a great backdrop with its reflections and greenery.

I approach portraits the same way I do the rest of the day—light touch, natural, and unobtrusive. Kerry & Jamie were brilliant together, chatting and laughing the whole time, which made everything feel easy and genuine. The final set of images really reflects that.

If you’re planning a wedding at Langtons House in Hornchurch, the gardens are a huge bonus—they give you that classic, romantic look without having to leave the venue. It’s one of the reasons I always enjoy photographing weddings here.

After portraits, the day moved on to Upminster Golf Club for the evening celebration. No long sit-down meal or drawn-out schedule—just straight into the first dance and a proper dance floor atmosphere from the start.

I used flash for the evening to really bring out the energy and keep the photos crisp, even in low light. I stayed in close and moved with the crowd, capturing the party from the middle of it all rather than from the edge. Kerry & Jamie were loving it—surrounded by friends and family, dancing, laughing, and just soaking it all in.

Kerry & Jamie’s wedding was a brilliant reminder that keeping things simple often leads to the most memorable, genuine days. From their ceremony at Langtons House to the evening party at Upminster Golf Club, the whole celebration was honest, relaxed, and full of great energy.

I’m based in Burnham-on-Crouch, a quiet town in the Essex countryside, and regularly photograph weddings across Hornchurch, Chelmsford, Maldon, and the wider area including Norfolk, Suffolk & Hertfordshire weddings. My style is always documentary-led—focusing on natural moments and relaxed portraits, with as little disruption to your day as possible.

If you're planning a wedding at Langtons House or anywhere else in Essex and want honest, natural images that reflect the real atmosphere of your day, I’d love to hear from you.
